Junior Art Mentors: Spruill Center for the Arts Teacher Assistant

I did both shifts (morning and aftercare) from 8:40 a.m to 5:40 p.m and it was amazing. In the morning shift I was a co-teacher helping 11-14 year old campers with acrylic painting. I helped the teens with their paintings and taught them how to paint properly if they didn’t know how to do a certain thing. I got to bond with them and really get to know them. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcomed. After the morning shift was done, I went to after care where kids would wait to be picked up at a later time. It was super fun to play with the kids. I loved me experience here.

Great time working with the kids

Volunteering at the arts center was such a fun experience. I enjoyed helping out the teachers and the kids.

I really enjoyed my time volunteering for Week 6 of the Spruill Center for the Arts' Art Camp! During each day, I helped get supplies ready for the kids' projects, managed the classroom, assisted kids in completing the project, took them for bathroom and water breaks, and cleaned up the mess at the end of each day. Throughout this experience, I also learned a lot from the art instructors and enjoyed engaging with the kids during activities. Overall, I loved seeing how excited the kids got for each activity and seeing their creativity blossom every day! I would definitely love to volunteer again at Spruill Center for the Arts.

I enjoyed the Spruill art camp week of volunteering. working with the kids and the art teachers was a valuable experience. I would definitely do this again as I feel as though I contributed by volunteering within the art community
